The Nursery

The Nursery

2021 has been another year dominated by Covid, with lockdowns and restrictions and now the threat of Omicron. But for some it has also presented an exciting silver lining. The mini baby boom that has swept across Wellington, now has some of us thinking about how home stylists create the perfect nursery. So, to help you out we have a few tips tricks and trends for you to get started creating that perfect little oasis for bub and functional space for mum and dad.

Pink is for Girls; Blue is for Boys?

With the temptation to go with these traditional colour pallets, selecting the more neutral colour tones has been a real trend such as whites, creams, and pale hues. This is a great way to keep the room feeling light and airy. At Evoke Home Staging we always try to style our nurseries with this in mind. Wellington is a bright and creative city and often when your bub is out and about with the vibrant colours of the everyday world already stimulating them, they need to come home to a tranquil and calm place to rest. A neutral foundation also gives you more flexibility for when baby gets a bit older.

Furniture

Ensuring that Mum and Dad are covered when home styling the nursery, Parents want to be prepared for all that goes on when taking care of your baby in this space.

Essentials for the nursery include a comfy cot, change table, storage and a comfortable space for Mum and Dad to do late night feeding and cuddling.

Cots and bassinets are best positioned away from the window. The Wellington winter can be harsh and ensuring baby is protected from any drafts is going to be important. It will also make it easier when trying to limit the natural light during the day at nap time.

Create a cosy Mum and Dad corner where either parent can sit in a comfortable chair and enjoy feeding or cuddling with baby. You could add a footstool to put your feet up and a lamp close by for those late-night feeds.

Adding Texture

When we are house staging in Wellington adding texture is a great way to give a room a comfortable feel. When creating a nursery, making it feel cosy and comfortable are important for baby and parents.

A great way to do this is to use textured rugs, blankets, and lovely soft cushions. Cute cuddly soft toys also help and soft fabric light-coloured curtains and blinds instead of heavy colourful fabrics.
